How much costs adaptation/moving steering wheel from left side to right side (UK style) in continental cars?

i'm going to the UK for few years and would like to take my car with me - continental style with steering wheel on the left side. is it compulsory to change the steering wheel to the right side (UK style) if i want to drive in the UK for longer period - let's say 2 years? and how much does it costs? where is it done?

did it on a mk1 golf cabrio, had to change: dash, pedal box, steering rack, and rear bumper(fog on left in Europe), parts i reused were steering column, electrics(just flipped the harness over)

It's a LOT of work if doing yourself it cost me 拢500 for the parts and took 3 days in my garage, you then need an independent engineers report(拢50) just to may sure It's done correctly.

It'll be too expensive to get someone to do it for you(around 拢2000 labour)

just to save a little bit on insurance!

mine was worth it 'cos i love the car and this model is very rare in RHD!

Just buy a RHD when in UK It'll be a lot cheaper.

Good luck!

It would be cheaper to buy a right hand drive car when you get here, if you are staying for 2 years you will have to register it here and pay road tax and have an mot after 12 months, driving left hand drive cars in the uk is ok, as many owners of American cars will testify!
Way more than the car is worth.
think u cn get away with it still bein lhd
