Can you just install a steering wheel on a car, or does it have to be "compatible "?

Ok so i%26#039;ve got a really old car, with no steering wheel airbag and i want to change the steering wheel, how do i know if it will fit etc?|||You would have to look at the shaft and count the splines, and measure the shaft diameter. Then you can count the splines on the steering wheel and check the hole diameter. Or you can do it the old fashioned way. Beat the sucker on until it won%26#039;t move. If it looks good then it fits. (just kidding)|||There are hundreds of companies that manufacture thousands of styles of steering wheels. Almost every one will have an adapter to easily install whatever you want on your car.|||you just can,t grab a wheel and put it on. it has to be made for your car. not every steering wheel will fit all cars.|||Easy answer - get a new one.
