Changing out steering column in a cavalier?

Can i switch out a cavalier's steering column the one we have does not have tilt wheel and i need it so i can fit my legs into the car easier. so if i find a steering column with a tilt wheel will that be hard to replace on the cavalier.

call your local auto salvge. you didn't say what year, but other GM models besides Cavalier will fit, only difference is the steering wheel. Like the other answer unplug all the wires( they are in clusters and not individual) unbolt it from the u-joint before it goes through the firewall(inside the clear plastic housing)Oh and a cable to the shifter for the safety switch will have to be unhooked(keeps the car from starting in gear)

No. find one in a junk yard preferably same year and make, just get one from a model that had the tilt as an option. Unbolt from the steering box, unbolt from the firewall and under the dash. Unplug wiring harness and swap out.
