Why is it that my cars steering wheel starts to shake when i drive over 55-60 mph?

I got the car checked out and mechanics say that they dont find nothing wrong with the car.. I also bought new tires, and I also barely got an oil change yesterday. What could be the problem?

have tires checked they are probably out of balence

i had that and i took it to a tyre place and they said the wheels needed balancing which they did do, it was fine after that. good luck.
Might need an alignment along with the balancing.

The mechanic you went to should have told you that.
Take it to a different shop and have them check the tire balance. Most steering wheel vibrations, at speed, are caused by out of balance tires. If the vibration is being felt in the seat and floor board then it's usually a driveline problem.
balance front tires or worn front end parts
you need an alignment bad and try rotating and balancing your tires you can rotate em your self but will need to got to A DIFFERENT mechanic to get em balanced and rotated need help rotating lemme know and ill tell you how
either the tires are out of balance or you have a out of round tire
You don't say if it did it before the new tires. oil change has nothing to do with it. Anyhew, while your driving if the steering wheel shakes up and down it's a pretty good bet that your wheel's need to be balanced. If it oscillates( left to right or right to left) I would say you need a wheel alignment. you don't say if any of these item's were done.
It's likely the tires are out of balance or the front alignment needs correcting or both.
1st find a new mechanic... Since you got new tires, rule that out ... It could be you need a front end alignment, or it might be you need to check your u-joint on your drive shaft. I could be wrong, except find a good mechanic! Good luck.
Nothing wrong with the tires - its the wheel balancing (a different thing).

When they replace tires they are supposed to balance the wheels afterwards, but some places don't do a good job.

My car shakes at 80mph. Took it for re balancing and its now fine.

Oh - and DONT LET THEM CHARGE YOU. They should have done in properly in the first place....
