The VE interior looks better though obviously can't afford one. I've been told that you can't change the dash and odometer to a VE style one, but how about the steering wheel and CD player.

If you want your car to be legal, and your insurance to be valid, make sure the 2 airbags are the same part number, or use your original airbag if it fits.
CD player is just the same as any stereo upgrade, and if both are made by, say, Blaupunkt, then the plugs at the rear should be the same.
