Steering wheel volume on 2005 mercury mountaineer is broken.?

just recently the volume control on my 2005 Mercury Mountaineer's steering wheel stopped working.

When I press the button it does everything else but change the volume. Sometimes it changes tracks on a CD, other times it changes the audio source, and again other times it will change the radio station.

This car is in very good condition. Aside from this issue, it has no other problems.

What could this be? Is it something I could fix? Or would i have to take it somewhere?

Thanks.

Yep had the same problem with my car. The switches have tiny contacts in them and all it takes is for one to break.

Genuine part needed here - sorry there is no option.

By the way, rule out crossed wiring - it doesnt just cross itself - if you know what I mean!!!!!

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Youre probably best off taking it to the dealor. It sounds like some wires are crossed in there.
It's a problem with the plastic contacts. It's a dealer only part which means it will be expensive. You really don't fix em', you replace em'.
