On my 1993 Ford Taurus when I turn the steering wheel back and forth it makes an awful sound?

Should I just change the power steering pump or change other things too?

i own a repair shop, and id first check the belt on it,its possible its just loose on it,but if the pump is getting dead spots in it,where its not working good, id say its time to change the pump ,and the belt, but you might want to have someone look at it first to see what it needs, it might save you some money,,good luck,i hope this help,s.and have a good thanks giving.

sounds like low power steering fluid or faulty steering pump.
Check your power stearing fluid!

Quick and easy fix!

Does it sound like it's moaning???
Why don't you see if there's power steering fluid in it first ?
try changing the belt first,it sounds like the belt is dryed out and slipping.
yup
Check the power steering fluid. It sounds like it is low. If that's not it, your power steering pump is probably going bad.
if its making noise while sitting still it's most likely the pump if its making noise while turning when moving it's most likely the cvc joint or joints if its low on fluid ther's still something wrong
why don't you actually check your fluids before tring to change the pump out.

Usually when the steering makes a noise it means the fluid is low
get the steering checked by a specialist
My mother in law had this noise and her engine bolts had broke and the engine was laying on the %26quot; A Frame%26quot; when it broke it caused the steering wheel to go full right and she could'nt drive it any more.Very dangerous if thats your problem.
Check the power steering fluid. You may only need to add fluid. If thats not it, the change out the pump.
Before changing the whole Power steering pump, check power steering fluid.
Check your p/s fluid level, if it's low you probably have a leak somewhere. the constant lack of fluid can damage the pump over time. If that's the case, have the leak repaired and replace the pump. proper %26quot;on-time%26quot; maintence is the key for keeping a vehicle in good condition!!
check to make sure you have fluid if you dont than you have a leak, replace the pump.
